Anambra Joint Security Team Repels Attack on Isuofia Checkpoint, Neutralizes Two Armed Hoodlums



On the evening of May 15, 2025, the Anambra Joint Security Team successfully repelled an attack by armed criminals at a security checkpoint in Isuofia, Anambra State. The fierce confrontation resulted in the neutralization of two armed hoodlums, though one security operative was fatally wounded, and an operational vehicle was set ablaze by the assailants.


According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer for the Anambra State Police Command, the gun battle showcased the superior firepower of the joint security team, forcing the criminals to abandon their Toyota Sienna vehicle and flee the scene. Security forces have since reinforced the area and are actively combing nearby bushes to apprehend the fleeing perpetrators.


Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, condemned the attack, describing it as a challenge to the collective resolve of Ndi Anambra and security forces to rid the state of criminal elements. He vowed that the Command would spare no effort in bringing the perpetrators to justice.


Calm has been restored in Isuofia, with additional armed operatives deployed to maintain security and pursue the suspects. The Anambra State Police Command assures the public that further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
