CHIEF (OBI) JOHN NWEKE (OBI ATTACK) LAID TO REST IN A GRAND BURIAL ATTENDED BY ANAMBRA’S FINEST

In a solemn yet dignified ceremony, the Nsugbe community bid farewell to one of its most respected elder statesmen - Chief (Obi) John Nweke (popularly known as Obi Attack). The burial, held today, was a moving celebration of a life that stood for wisdom, mentorship, and community transformation.


The occasion drew the presence of some of Anambra’s most influential figures, including the distinguished Chief Dr. Ebuka Onunkwo, Chairman and CEO of Seahorse Lubricant Industries Ltd and the frontline APGA senatorial aspirant in the Anambra South By Election., who came personally to mourn and stand beside his close friend and associate, Barr. Tochukwu Nweke (SAN) - the deceased’s son.


Chief (Obi) John Nweke (Obi Attack) was more than a father. He was a moral figurehead, an educator, and a man whose principled lifestyle shaped not just his children, but generations. His legacy was visible in the powerful attendance and tributes that poured in from across the country.


Barr. Tochukwu Nweke (SAN), one of Nigeria’s respected legal practitioners and a key legal voice in the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), earned national recognition for his work on the APGA vs. Njoku legal case. As his father was laid to rest, friends, colleagues, and well-wishers gathered to offer both honor and heartfelt condolences.


Among the top dignitaries present were members of the Anambra State House of Assembly, legal luminaries, political leaders, and cultural figures. The entertainment industry also paid its respects with the presence of veteran Nollywood stars such as Bob-Manuel Udokwu and Chief Yul Edochie, both of whom joined in celebrating a man whose fatherly wisdom impacted even beyond his immediate community.


The presence of Chief Dr. Ebuka Onunkwo added a special note to the day. A leading figure in Nigeria’s industrial sector, his visit was not merely ceremonial - it was an act of friendship and solidarity. Known for his belief in communal bonds and indigenous empowerment, Chief Onunkwo’s attendance reaffirmed the respect Chief (Obi) John Nweke commanded during his lifetime.


Though the day was marked with emotion, it was also one of pride - for a man who raised one of Nigeria’s top legal minds, and who was fondly referred to as “Obi Attack” for his fearless commitment to truth, discipline, and leadership.


From chalkboards and classrooms to village halls and courtrooms, Chief (Obi) John Nweke’s legacy is woven into the fabric of excellence, service, and values. He was a father to all and a beacon of moral clarity.


As the sun set over his final resting place, it became clear: the legacy of Chief (Obi) John Nweke (Obi Attack) will not be buried with him. It lives on - in the thousands he taught, in the leaders he raised, and in the Nsugbe community he helped shape.


Farewell to a true Obi. Rest well, Obi Attack. Your legacy is eternal.
