By O'star Eze
In a decisive operation on June 5, 2025, a joint security task force, led by the Anambra State Police Command and comprising operatives from the Department of State Service, Nigerian Army, Navy, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and Anambra State Vigilante, razed a criminal camp in Agulu-Ezechukwu, Aguata Local Government Area. The operation, which followed a seven-hour gun battle, resulted in the neutralization of one armed hoodlum and the recovery of multiple items, including suspected stolen vehicles and household goods.
The joint force successfully overran the camp, recovering a Toyota Sienna (Reg No: EKY 03 FF), an unregistered white Mazda Hilux, a motorcycle, and various household items such as cooking pots, gallons, groceries, mattresses, mechanical tools, and clothing. The operation targeted a notorious hideout of armed criminals in the region, marking a significant blow to criminal activities in Aguata.
According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer for the Anambra State Police Command, fresh blood stains found at the scene suggest that other suspects may have been injured and fled. Operatives are currently combing the area to apprehend any remaining suspects.
The Anambra State Police Command has assured the public that further developments will be communicated as the operation progresses. This successful raid underscores the commitment of the joint security forces to restoring peace and security in Anambra State.
