Anambra Police Commissioner Warns Social Media Influencer VeryDarkMan Against Inciting Unrest
By O'star Eze
The Anambra State Police Command has issued a stern warning to popular social media influencer Mr. Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, cautioning him against actions or statements that could incite tension or disrupt public peace in the state. The directive was given by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc MNIPS PhD, in response to concerns over potential unrest.
The warning follows the decision by the family of the late Mr. Ifesinachi Onyekere, Managing Director of Fish Magnet outlet, to publicly dissociate themselves from any proposed or ongoing candlelight processions or memorial gatherings organized in his name. The family has appealed for privacy to grieve and urged the public to allow authorities to handle ongoing investigations.
CP Orutugu emphasized that Anambra remains one of the most peaceful states in the region, attributing this to the collaborative efforts of the police, other security agencies, and key stakeholders. He stressed that no individual, regardless of their social standing, would be permitted to undermine the state’s security architecture.
The Commissioner urged residents and visitors to carry out their lawful activities without fear, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to maintaining law and order. He also advised social media users and public figures to exercise restraint and refrain from spreading misinformation or making inflammatory remarks that could destabilize the state.
The Anambra State Police Command further warned that anyone found breaching public peace, whether online or offline, will face the full weight of the law.
SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer for the Anambra State Police Command, reiterated the Command’s dedication to ensuring a peaceful environment for all.
