Eschew Get Rich Quick Syndrome - Onunkwo charges NUASS

The National Union of Anambra State Students (NUASS) has been charged to eschew the "get rich quick" syndrome by Hon. Kamen Chuks, representing Chief Dr. Ebuka Onunkwo, APGA Senatorial Aspirant for Anambra South Senatorial Zone.




Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the new executive which held Friday, January 31, 2025 at Nnamdi Azikiwe Auditorium, Hon. Chuks emphasized the importance of hard work, integrity, and resourcefulness. He encouraged the students to stay positive, prayerful, and focused on their goals, warning them against the dangers of quick fixes and shortcuts.




Hon. Chuks also seized the opportunity to announce Chief Dr. Ebuka Onunkwo's 10 million naira scholarship scheme, urging the students to take advantage of this generous offer. He assured the students that Chief Dr. Onunkwo is committed to supporting their educational pursuits and empowering them to become leaders of tomorrow.




The ceremony, themed "Repositioning the Narrative: The Role of Students in Nation Building," was attended by dignitaries, including Poolking Estate CEO Amb. Gabriel Chukwunwendi, chairman of the occasion, who donated 1 million naira for scholarships, Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chioma, represented by Mrs. Chinyere Nwachukwu from the Ministry of Education, Awka South Zone. They all took turns to congratulate the new executives and urge them to show transparency in their duties.




The spiritual father of the day, Pastor Godwin Okennwa, encouraged the new leadership with biblical references, emphasizing the importance of wisdom and God's guidance in leadership. The outgoing president of NUASS, the Mayor of Awka South, and representatives of the governor and Ministry of Education also gave speeches, reiterating their pledged support for the new executive.




The inauguration ceremony marked the beginning of a new era for NUASS, with Felix Nwachinemelu at the helm. The event was a testament to the union's commitment to nation-building and its determination to make a positive impact. With the support of dignitaries and stakeholders, the new executive is poised to take NUASS to greater heights, promoting transparency, accountability, and resourcefulness among its members.




The highpoint of the National Union of Anambra State Students (NUASS) inauguration ceremony was undoubtedly the presentation of certificates of return to the new executive members. This significant moment was made possible by Hon. Buruche Michael, the Electoral Committee Chairman, who formally handed over the certificates, marking the official commencement of the new executives' tenure.

Anambra Police Arrest Man for Mother’s Murder, Foil Suicide Attempt in Ekwulobia

Ekwulobia, Anambra State – A 49-year-old man, Nnamdi Anyaji, was arrested by police in Ekwulobia on April 11, 2025, for the brutal murder of his 68-year-old mother, Mrs. Dorathy Anyaji. The incident, which occurred at their residence in Amudo Village, stemmed from a heated dispute over profits from a cassava business, with Nnamdi accusing his mother of dishonesty. Police recovered an axe at the scene, believed to be the murder weapon. Paulinus Chukwuemeka Ezeokafor, inaugurated the new board of Nimo General Hospital in Njikoka Local Government Area, Anambra State, marking a pivotal step in revitalizing the healthcare facility. The ceremony, held at the hospital premises, included the handover of N35,730,817 to the board, representing the balance of a prior government donation plus accrued interest. Bishop Ezeokafor reaffirmed the diocese’s commitment to restoring the hospital’s functionality for the benefit of the Nimo community.
