Barrister Okonkwo inaugurated as Executive Director, SEDC

Barrister Silvester Okonkwo has been inaugurated as the Executive Director of Corporate Services at the South East Development Commission (SEDC). This development follows his nomination by President Bola Tinubu, alongside other executive directors, to steer the affairs of the commission.


The inauguration of the 18 man board of South East Development Commission took place at Chelsea Hotel Abuja, Tuesday, February 11, 2025, and was presided over by the Minister for Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh.


As the Executive Director of Corporate Services, Barrister Okonkwo will be responsible for overseeing the corporate governance and administrative functions of the commission. His expertise and experience will be invaluable in driving the commission's mandate to accelerate development in the South East region.


Barrister Okonkwo's background makes him an ideal fit for this role. Born in Ojoto, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, he attended Dennis Memorial Grammar School Onitsha and later graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus.


A seasoned politician and lawyer, Barrister Okonkwo has had a distinguished career spanning over two decades. He was a senatorial aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2019 and has served as the Chief of Staff to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.


Barrister Okonkwo's experience as a corporate lawyer and his passion for development make him a valuable asset to the SEDC. We wish him success in his new role and look forward to seeing the positive impact of his leadership.
