Anambra Police Chief, CP Orutugu, Orders CID Reorganization, Unveils Political Desk Unit to Boost Security



Awka, March 29, 2025 – In a bold move to tackle evolving crime trends and bolster investigative prowess, the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc mnips PhD, today convened a high-stakes meeting with sectional heads of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at the Command headquarters in Awka. The strategic session, held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, signaled a sweeping overhaul aimed at fortifying the state’s security apparatus.


Delivering a decisive directive, CP Orutugu ordered an immediate reorganization of the CID Formation, underscoring its critical role as the nerve center of the Command’s investigative operations. In a groundbreaking announcement, he approved the creation of a specialized Political Desk Unit within the department. This new unit is charged with monitoring political activities, conducting threat assessments, and devising risk management strategies to ensure robust security during political campaigns and high-stakes events across the state.

Anambra Police Arrest Man for Mother’s Murder, Foil Suicide Attempt in Ekwulobia

Ekwulobia, Anambra State – A 49-year-old man, Nnamdi Anyaji, was arrested by police in Ekwulobia on April 11, 2025, for the brutal murder of his 68-year-old mother, Mrs. Dorathy Anyaji.
