Anambra State Declared Safe for Tourists as CP Orutugu Highlights Cultural Unity

Awka, Anambra State - The Commissioner of Police for Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD, has reaffirmed that Anambra remains a secure and welcoming destination for visitors and tourists. Speaking today, March 30, 2025, CP Orutugu pointed to the recent cultural display by his Okpoama Kingdom community from Brass Local Government in Bayelsa State as a testament to the state's safety and vibrant cultural exchange.

The event, which drew prominent dignitaries including revered chiefs from Bayelsa and the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Gilbert Onyekachukwu Ibezim, representing Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, highlighted the significance of unity and cooperation across diverse cultures. According to CP Orutugu, the successful showcase of Okpoama Kingdom’s traditions in Anambra underscores the state’s peaceful environment, making it an appealing hub for tourism and cultural exploration.

Anambra State boasts a wealth of attractions, including the scenic Agulu Lake, the historic Ogbunike Cave, and the renowned Igbo Ukwu Museum, all of which reflect its rich history, artistry, and natural splendor. The state’s cultural calendar is equally impressive, featuring festivals such as the Imo Awka, Afia Oru, New Yam, and Ofala Festivals, which celebrate its diverse heritage and traditions.

In his remarks, CP Orutugu emphasized that the peaceful coexistence of various communities and the state’s robust security measures ensure that visitors can explore these treasures without concern. “Anambra State is not just a land of culture and beauty; it is a safe haven for all who wish to experience its wonders,” he stated.

Adding a festive note to his address, the Commissioner extended warm felicitations to the Christian community in Anambra as they celebrate Mothering Sunday and to the Muslim community marking Eid al-Fitr, signaling the end of Ramadan. He expressed hope that these celebrations would further strengthen the bonds of harmony in the state.



The Anambra State Police Command, through its Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and security, ensuring that residents and visitors alike can enjoy the state’s offerings with confidence.
