CHIEF DR EBUKA ONUNKWO CONFERRED WITH HONORARY DOCTORATE DEGREE IN FINANCE



It was a moment of prestige and recognition today at Tansian University, Umunya as the APGA frontrunner aspirant for Anambra South Senatorial by-election, Dr Ebuka Onunkwo, was conferred with an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Finance by the University during its 13th Convocation Ceremony. 


This remarkable honour is a testament to Dr Onunkwo's outstanding contributions to education, society, and leadership, as well as his commitment to human capital development and excellence in various fields.


The event celebrated the achievements of graduating students and recognized distinguished individuals, with Dr Onunkwo acknowledged for his impact and dedication to human empowerment, especially towards students. 


Tansian University, known for its commitment to academic excellence and societal development, reserves this honour for individuals who have made significant contributions to their communities and beyond.


Dr Onunkwo has continued to enjoy global recognition for his philanthropic endeavours with awards from several prestigious institutions like the Zoe Life Theological College, Philadelphia, USA where he bagged a doctorate in philosophy, Doctor of Economic Development and Business Management from St. Felicite University, Port Novo, Republic of Benin as well as Doctor of Divinity from Cathedral University and Bethel Bible Institute, California, USA, to mention but a few.


Chief Onunkwo is also a fellow of the Institute of Oil and Gas Research & Hydrocarbon Studies, specializing in Strategic Management. 


Dr Onunkwo has continuously impacted lives in his community and beyond, lifting many lives out of poverty and awarding scholarships to Anambra State students. As a successful businessman with over 1,000 employees from Anambra State, his company has helped reduce unemployment among youths. His philanthropic life has earned him the masses' support and honour globally.


In his vote of thanks, Dr Onunkwo appreciated the Senate and the University management for finding him worthy of the honour and assured them of his continuous support.


Dr Onunkwo's recognition serves as an inspiration to many, reinforcing the importance of hard work, innovation, and service to humanity.

Anambra Police Arrest Man for Mother’s Murder, Foil Suicide Attempt in Ekwulobia

Ekwulobia, Anambra State – A 49-year-old man, Nnamdi Anyaji, was arrested by police in Ekwulobia on April 11, 2025, for the brutal murder of his 68-year-old mother, Mrs. Dorathy Anyaji. The incident, which occurred at their residence in Amudo Village, stemmed from a heated dispute over profits from a cassava business, with Nnamdi accusing his mother of dishonesty. Police recovered an axe at the scene, believed to be the murder weapon. According to the Anambra State Police Command, operatives from the Ekwulobia Divisional Police Station responded to the scene at approximately 1:40 p.m. after Nnamdi attempted to take his own life following the killing. Nimo General Hospital Board Inaugurated as Catholic Diocese of Awka Resumes Management

Paulinus Chukwuemeka Ezeokafor, inaugurated the new board of Nimo General Hospital in Njikoka Local Government Area, Anambra State, marking a pivotal step in revitalizing the healthcare facility. The ceremony, held at the hospital premises, included the handover of N35,730,817 to the board, representing the balance of a prior government donation plus accrued interest. Bishop Ezeokafor reaffirmed the diocese’s commitment to restoring the hospital’s functionality for the benefit of the Nimo community.
