ANAMBRA 2025: MOGHALU HOSTS LABOUR PARTY SWC, SEEKS UNITY AHEAD OF GOVERNORSHIP POLL



As the November 8 governorship election in Anambra State approaches, the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Chief Dr. George Moghalu, has held a strategic meeting with members of the party’s State Working Committee (SWC) at his residence in Uruagu-Nnewi.


The SWC was led by the Anambra State Chairman of the party, Hon. Emeh Ugochukwu Emmanuel, and the State Woman Leader, Hon. Amaka Ewim. The interactive session, held on Friday, April 25, was convened to foster unity and chart a winning course ahead of the governorship contest.


In his opening remarks, Moghalu thanked the party leaders for their role in his emergence as the LP flagbearer following the April 5 primaries. He emphasized the need for reconciliation and collective effort as the party prepares to challenge the incumbent administration.


“I called this meeting because we have not had the opportunity to sit together since after the primaries,” Moghalu said. “I appreciate your support, and now is the time to heal any rifts and move forward together. This election is not going to be a tea party—it’s a fight to finish. We must go in united and ready.”


He announced that the party would officially commence its campaign on June 11, alongside the unveiling of its manifesto. He assured the SWC of his preparedness—physically, mentally, and spiritually—to win the election with their support.


Also speaking, LP State Chairman, Hon. Emeh Ugochukwu Emmanuel, urged party members to put aside grievances and rally behind Moghalu. He expressed confidence in the candidate’s capacity and the party’s chances.


“The primary is over. We have a candidate now, and it’s time to focus on the main goal,” Emmanuel said. “I’ve known Moghalu since 1999—he is a man we can trust. Despite the incumbency advantages of Soludo of APGA and Ukachukwu of APC, I believe that with unity, LP can win this election.”


Other executive members present at the meeting praised Moghalu’s leadership and pledged their commitment to the party’s victory.


A key highlight of the meeting was the inauguration of a Peace and Reconciliation Committee, chaired by Hon. Humphrey Iloh. The committee is tasked with reconciling aggrieved members and re-integrating them into the party’s campaign machinery.

Anambra Police Arrest Man for Mother’s Murder, Foil Suicide Attempt in Ekwulobia

Ekwulobia, Anambra State – A 49-year-old man, Nnamdi Anyaji, was arrested by police in Ekwulobia on April 11, 2025, for the brutal murder of his 68-year-old mother, Mrs. Dorathy Anyaji.
