Anambra Police Intensify Community Engagement in Operation Udo Ga Chi—Zero Kidnapping

 The Anambra State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has ramped up efforts to combat kidnapping and enhance security across the state through its ongoing initiative, Operation Udo Ga Chi—Zero Kidnapping. As part of the strategy, CP Orutugu has embarked on a series of stakeholder visits to foster collaboration and garner support for the Police Command and other security agencies, particularly during the Easter period and beyond.

Leveraging community engagement, resources, and intelligence, the Police Command aims to build stronger relationships with stakeholders to better address community needs and concerns while bolstering security operations statewide. The initiative reflects a proactive approach to tackling crime by fostering trust and cooperation between the police and local communities.

During his recent engagements, CP Orutugu visited prominent stakeholders, including Chief Dr. Sir Emeka Offor, Chief Cletus Ibeto in Nnewi, and Chief Vincent Udobi in Ukpo. He also made a stop at Obijackson’s residence in Okija and patrolled Ihiala to monitor security deployments in the area. These visits underscore the Police Command’s commitment to inclusivity and collaboration in its fight against crime.

Accompanying the Commissioner were key security officials, including the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, CC Joyce N. Alexander; Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), DCP Ibrahim Ezekiel; Deputy Commissioner of Police (Criminal Investigation Department), DCP Mantu Chongs; Deputy Commissioner of Police (Finance and Administration), DCP Ngozi Ezeabata; and other senior officers.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Command plans to engage more stakeholders to ensure comprehensive security coverage across Anambra State. “The Police Command is poised to carry everyone along in providing security services tailored to the needs of every community in the state,” Ikenga stated.

The Operation Udo Ga Chi—Zero Kidnapping initiative has been hailed as a timely response to the rising security challenges in the region, with the Police Command urging residents to provide actionable intelligence to aid their efforts. As the Command continues to strengthen ties with communities and stakeholders, Anambra residents are hopeful for a safer and more secure environment.
