Anambra Police Rescue Kidnapped Victim in Swift Operation

The Anambra State Police Command has successfully rescued a kidnapped victim at Umuege Village, Amawbia, Awka, following a rapid response operation on Tuesday night, April 22, 2025. The victim was safely reunited with their family and debriefed for further action, according to a statement by Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga.

The rescue was executed by operatives attached to the Central Police Station, Awka, after receiving a distress call at approximately 10:45 pm on April 22. Acting on credible intelligence, police launched a hot chase and strategically positioned themselves, forcing the kidnappers to abandon the victim in Umunya along the Enugu/Onitsha Expressway. The suspects, operating in an unmarked Sienna vehicle, fled the scene.

The Commissioner of Police has ordered a thorough investigation to apprehend the perpetrators and uncover the circumstances surrounding the abduction. Authorities have assured the public that further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.

The Anambra State Police Command reiterated its commitment to combating crime and ensuring the safety of residents, urging citizens to report suspicious activities promptly.
