Anambra Police, Igbo Youth Stakeholders Unite to Promote Peace and Security

Awka, Anambra State – On May 31, 2025, the Anambra State Police Command, led by Commissioner of Police CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD, hosted Igbo Youth Stakeholders at the Command Headquarters in Awka to foster collaboration aimed at promoting peace and enhancing public safety across the state. The visit underscored the importance of collective efforts in creating a secure environment for all residents.


CP Orutugu praised Anambra youths for their exemplary conduct on May 30, 2025, which marked a violence-free day despite threats from adversaries of the state. He emphasized the Command’s commitment to working with stakeholders to sustain peace and curb criminal activities.


The leader of the delegation, Mazi Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu, expressed gratitude to the CP and pledged stronger cooperation with the police and other security agencies. He announced plans for an upcoming Igbo Youth Stakeholders Convention in Anambra to address critical issues, particularly security, affecting the Southeast region.


Also present was Mr. Daniel Onyishi, Anambra State Director of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), who urged the youth group to maintain good conduct during the convention and encouraged them to advocate against actions threatening national peace. He reaffirmed the commitment of security agencies to combat crime in the state.


Notable attendees included Mazi Ikechukwu Oji, Chairman of the Igbo Youth Leaders/Stakeholders Convention 2025 and Assistant National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo; Mazi Uzoh Ifeanyi C, Nigeria/African Regional Representative for United Nations SDG Youth; Mazi Odozi Nwodozi, former National Vice President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo; Mazi Oscar David Kalu, Member of the Board of Trustees, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN); Sir Ambrose Obioha, former Director of Sports, NANS; Comrade Ogbonnia Wenceslaus, Assistant National Leader of Ohanaeze Youth Worldwide; and Hon. Mbanusi Emmanuel, PhD, Member of the National Advisory Council, NYCN.


SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police Command, highlighted the significance of the partnership in a statement released on May 31, 2025, reaffirming the Command’s dedication to fostering peace and security through collaborative efforts.
