EBUKA ONUNKWO CHAIRS EVENT TO MARK THE 5 YEARS REMEMBRANCE OF HRM. PROF. EZE CHUKWUEMEKA IKE

 


 - Donates Two Million Naira to launch book by the group titled "Nka Na AkaOru Ndi Igbo"


Chief Dr. Ebuka Onunkwo, a prominent philanthropist, community leader and the frontrunner APGA aspirant for Anambra South senatorial by-election, today chaired the 5years remembrance commemoration of His Majesty, Eze Professor Chukwuemeka Ike,in an event organized by the Nigerian Book Foundation (NBF) in collaboration with the Anambra State Ministry of Education, the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) Anambra Chapter, and the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Anambra State Council. 



The event, which was held at the prestigious Professor Kenneth Dike Library in Awka, drew participants from across the state’s literary and educational communities.


While speaking, the Chairman of the event, Chief Dr. Onunkwo praised the late Professor Chukwuemeka Ike as a towering figure in Nigerian literature and a traditional ruler who led with wisdom and integrity. 



Going down memory lane, he recounted His Majesty Eze Professor Chukwuemeka Ike's exemplary lifestyle as a Nigerian monarch, academic and prolific writer known for his mixture of humour and satire in his literary works which he said can largely be attributed to his Igbo cultural upbringing.


Chief Dr Onunkwo called on the younger generation to live lives worthy of emulation, emphasizing that building a lasting legacy requires dedication, service, and commitment to truth, values the late professor upheld throughout his life. “The kind of life that Professor Ike lived continues to speak volumes even after his departure,” he noted.


The event featured tributes from literary icons, educators, journalists, and public officials, all of whom spoke about Professor Ike’s enduring contributions to literature, education, and traditional leadership. 


His works and his service as a university administrator and royal father were described as timeless legacies that have continued to inspire readers and leaders alike.


The organizers reaffirmed their commitment to preserving and promoting Professor Ike’s legacy through literary advocacy and educational development. 


The gathering served not only as a remembrance but also as a rallying point for stakeholders to recommit themselves to the values of intellectual excellence and service to humanity, which the late professor embodied throughout his life.



Among the diginitaries in attendance were; His Royal Highness Igwe Chidubem Iweka 111, the Chairman Anambra State traditional rulers council, Professor Stella okunna, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, Commissioner for Education Anambra state, Hon Emeka odogwu Emeka, Chairman NUJ Anambra State, Chief Ignatius Nnubia among others.
