Ikukuoma, Iyom Storm Anambra In Epic Homecoming After Tinubu’s APC Flag Triumph
Prince Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu(Ikukuoma Anambra) and Senator Dr. Uche Ekwunife(Iyom Anambra) returned to Anambra State today in a thrilling homecoming after receiving the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship flag from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The flag presentation ceremony, held on May 26, 2025, in Abuja, confirmed their roles as the APC’s candidates for the Anambra governorship election for November 8, 2025.
Thousands of party members, supporters and stakeholders flooded the Chinua Achebe Airport in Umueri, waving APC flags and chanting slogans, kicking off a bold campaign to challenge the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Governor Charles Soludo at the poll.
Addressing the ecstatic crowd, Ukachukwu declared, “President Tinubu gave us a charge to go and deliver Anambra to the APC, and that is exactly what we will do ! Starting tomorrow, we will lead you on a tour of all 326 wards to bring our message of progress, hope, security, employment and industrial revolution to every corner of Anambra state.”
Ikukuoma used the occasion to formally unveil his running mate, Senator Dr. Lilian Uche Ekwunife, as his deputy governorship candidate, praising her grassroots appeal and capacity to deliver in the joint ticket, with the crowd echoing with the chants of "Iyom idi anyi nma"
Ukachukwu also charged APC members to fear no one, urging them to go down to their wards and mobilize aggressively for the upcoming election as victory shall be that of APC come November 8th.
In Abuja, President Tinubu had presented the APC flag to Ukachukwu and Ekwunife, urging them to “go and get me Anambra.” Joined by APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje and other top government officials, President Tinubu pledged full support to the Ukachukwu-Ekwunife ticket.
Ekwunife, a former senator and former Rep member, known for connecting with the masses, was hailed as a vital addition to the ticket, with party leaders calling them a “winning team.” The Anambra homecoming was a vibrant celebration, with supporters, party leaders, and locals filling the Airport.
The APC is set on ending APGA’s long hold on Anambra. Ukachukwu has promised to tackle insecurity and lack of Industry within six months if elected, pitching himself as a business-savvy leader. Ekwunife’s popularity among women and youth strengthens the campaign.
Indeed, it is no longer business as usual for the current occupant at Awka as Anambra APC is today re- energized for the task ahead and it shall end in praises for the party and ndi Anambra.
Ka Ikuku oma kusa nu anyi.
