Police in Anambra Arrest Armed Robbery Suspect, Recover Stolen Motorcycle in Nnewi

On May 29, 2025, operatives of the Otolo-Nnewi Police Station arrested a 20-year-old suspect, Nnaji Chukwuka, identified as a member of an armed robbery syndicate terrorizing the Nnewichi area of Nnewi North Local Government Area. The arrest, announced by the Anambra State Police Command on May 30, 2025, also led to the recovery of a machete and a stolen Honda Cub 120 motorcycle.


According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Anambra State Police Command, the arrest was the result of diligent efforts by operatives who had been tracking the syndicate’s criminal activities following multiple complaints from residents. The suspect has provided valuable information that is assisting ongoing investigations aimed at apprehending other members of the gang.


The stolen motorcycle has been returned to its rightful owner after identification. The police have assured the public that further developments in the case will be communicated as the investigation progresses.


The Anambra State Police Command continues to urge residents to report suspicious activities to aid in maintaining security in the region.
