Anambra North Mega Rally: Soludo Secures Overwhelming Support for Second Term

The Anambra North Senatorial District resounded with unity and fervor at the Otuocha Township Stadium, where a massive rally organized by stakeholders across various political parties declared unequivocal support for Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s re-election bid in the November 8, 2025, governorship election. 


The event, themed “Sustaining the Solution Legacy: A Path to Disruptive Development in Anambra North,” saw key political figures, traditional rulers, and community leaders pledge their allegiance to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate, citing his transformative policies and landmark projects.


Prince Chuchu Onyema, a former House of Representatives member and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, set the tone for the rally, proclaiming Soludo as “a governor for everybody.” Reflecting on past electoral challenges, Onyema assured, “What happened the last time will not happen again. Anambra North has given you 100 percent. Congratulations, Your Excellency. We are going there again for another four years.” 


Hon. Gabriel Onyenweife, a former representative of Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the zoning arrangement that supports Soludo’s second term. “Our brother just finished eight years; the governor should be allowed to continue his second term. You deserve it,” Onyenweife declared, describing the rally as a multi-party endorsement of Soludo’s leadership.


APGA State Chairman, Barr. Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, expressed gratitude to stakeholders for their solidarity, noting that Anambra North’s exemplary support sets a precedent for other zones. “The way Anambra North did well is the way other zones will do well,” he said, praising the unity and acknowledgment of Soludo’s performance.


Hon. Chinedu Obidigwe, Chairman of the Sub-Committee for the Anambra North Three Million-Man Rally, lauded Soludo’s developmental strides, particularly in infrastructure. “You have hit the hinterlands. You have given us hope. We are going to give you seven Local Governments over seven Local Governments,” Obidigwe vowed, urging Anambra North residents to secure every polling unit. “We are not looking for better when the best is with us already,” he added.


The Chairman of the Anambra North Peoples Assembly echoed this, saying, “Jisike in’eme ofuma” (Keep doing well), a call for continued progress under Soludo’s leadership. APGA National Chairman, Sly Ezeokenwa, aligned himself with the speakers, commending Soludo’s achievements, including five general hospitals, free maternal healthcare, free education, and road construction in areas previously inaccessible. “You are working as if you are from Anambra North. You are Anambra North’s consensus candidate, regardless of political party,” Ezeokenwa declared. He urged residents to collect their voter cards to deliver “100 percent” on election day, adding, “May that person never see good who says there should not be a second tenure.”


A communique read by the Speaker of the Anambra House of Assembly, Hon. Somtoo Udeze, formalized the rally’s resolutions, passing a vote of confidence in Soludo for earning the “trust, admiration, and unwavering support” of Anambra North. The communique highlighted appreciation for his transformative policies and landmark projects, affirming that “APGA is the only party in Anambra North.” It reiterated the district’s commitment to equity, justice, and progress, pledging complete support for Soludo’s re-election and asserting that no other gubernatorial candidate compares.


In a significant highlight, the Traditional Rulers Council of Anambra North conferred the chieftaincy title “Oluatuegwu” (Fearless Worker) on Governor Soludo.


 In his acceptance speech, Soludo traced the title’s origin to a woman who, during a project inspection, described him as “Oluatuegwu.” He expressed gratitude to the traditional rulers, recalling their past endorsement. 


“You told me I was the most qualified, and my predecessor saw it through,” he said. Soludo reaffirmed his commitment to the zoning arrangement, stating, “We have perfected the process of zoning. After my eight years, the governorship will return to Anambra Central, then back to Anambra North.” 


He also took a swipe at opponents, alleging some are using the campaign to raise funds for the 2027 general elections. “You have not seen anything yet. One people, one state, one party,” he concluded, rallying the crowd.



The rally, attended by thousands, showcased Anambra North’s unity and resolve to ensure Soludo’s re-election, setting the stage for a formidable campaign as the November 8 polls approach.
