Anambra Police and POWA Celebrate Pupils, Strengthen Community Ties

Awka, June 18, 2025 – The Anambra State Police Command, led by Commissioner of Police CP Ikioye Orutugu, partnered with the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) to celebrate pupils of the Police Children’s School at the Police Headquarters in Awka. The event underscored the Command’s dedication to supporting police families and fostering positive police-community relations across the state.


During the celebration, CP Orutugu urged the pupils to shun negative influences and adopt behaviors that reflect well on their school and the nation. He emphasized the importance of their role as ambassadors of the Police Children’s School.

Mrs. Chinwe Umerie, the State POWA Chairperson, encouraged the children to uphold good conduct and support their parents. She expressed gratitude to the Command for its collaboration and pledged that POWA would intensify its community-focused initiatives to bridge the gap between the public and the police.


The event featured a march past and salute to the Commissioner and POWA Chairperson, a cultural dance performance by the pupils, and other engaging activities. In attendance were the Deputy Commissioners of Police for Operations and Administration, POWA members, principals of Police Children’s Schools, parents, and senior police officers.


This joint effort by the Anambra State Police Command and POWA highlights the significance of community policing and the vital role of police families in building trust and goodwill with the public.

Ambassador Chukwuebuka David Onuorah, has urged all sons and daughters of the town living in cities and overseas to return home this Christmas.
