Anambra Police Intensify Night Patrols, CP Orutugu Urges Professionalism and Respect for Citizens’ Rights

The Anambra State Police Command, under the directive of Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has ramped up night patrols across the state to enhance security and ensure public safety. The initiative, which commenced on June 23, 2025, underscores the police’s commitment to protecting lives and property while fostering trust within the community.

Addressing operatives before the deployment, CP Orutugu emphasized the need for heightened alertness and proactive crime prevention. He charged the officers to conduct patrols with utmost diligence, professionalism, and courtesy, stressing the importance of respecting citizens’ rights and dignity. “Our duty is to serve and protect the people of Anambra State while upholding their fundamental rights,” the Commissioner stated.

The intensified night patrols aim to deter criminal activities and reassure residents of the police’s unwavering dedication to their safety. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to maintain peace and security in the state.

SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer for the Anambra State Police Command, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to community-oriented policing. “This operation is designed to boost security and strengthen public confidence in the police,” Ikenga noted.

The Anambra State Police Command encourages residents to cooperate with operatives and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
