Anambra Police Launch Major Crackdown on Crime in Oko, Raid Drug Den, Arrest Six



In a decisive move to curb criminal activities in Anambra State, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has ordered a sweeping clampdown on crime in Oko and its surrounding areas.
Highlighting the critical link between substance abuse and crime, CP Orutugu emphasized that drugs are the "oxygen" fueling most criminal activities in the region.

In a significant operation, operatives from the Special Anti-Cultism Squad in Enugwu Ukwu conducted an early morning raid on June 25, 2025, targeting a notorious drug den in Oko. The operation led to the arrest of six suspects and the recovery of a large quantity of various hard drugs. The arrested individuals, all males aged between 24 and 35, were identified as Joseph Chukwura, Emmanuel Chukwuemeka, Ifeanyi Agbanari, Igwe Chineche, Mmadufor Chinecherem, Chibueze Chukwumankpam, and Mmadubom Uchenna.

The suspects are currently under interrogation to gather critical information, particularly regarding a recent disturbing incident in Oko. The Anambra State Police Command believes this operation will disrupt criminal networks and help curb the rising tide of crime in the area.

SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, stated that the Command is committed to sustaining such initiatives to dismantle criminal operations and ensure safety in the region. Further updates on the operation will be communicated as developments unfold.
