Anambra Police Smash Cult Initiation in Nawfia, Nab Six Suspects

 



 In a daring early-morning raid on June 15, 2025, at around 9:30 a.m., Anambra State Police Command operatives swooped in on a suspected cult initiation ceremony in Nawfia, Njikoka Local Government Area, apprehending six young men and seizing a cache of dangerous items.


 Acting on a hot tip, the police operation disrupted the clandestine gathering, dealing a significant blow to cult activities in the region.


The haul from the raid included a Jojef pump action gun, two live cartridges, a sleek golden Lexus SUV (Reg No: ATN 202 AE), two cutlasses, two scissors, a cap emblazoned with the Supreme Vikings Confraternity logo, charms, a hard substance, and other items tied to cult operations. 


The suspects, named Nwadike Chibuike, Anierobi Precious, Raphael Ebube, Ezechi Benjamin, Okafor Chidera, and Chiema Okoye—all males aged 20 to 30—are now in custody and facing intense police questioning to unravel their network and methods.


SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Anambra State Police Command’s spokesperson, vowed that the suspects would face justice once investigations are complete. 


“Cultism is a gateway to serious crimes, and we’re cracking down hard to keep Anambra safe,” Ikenga declared, reaffirming the Command’s relentless fight against such menaces.


 The police are urging residents to share credible tips, promising confidentiality to protect informants.


This high-stakes operation is part of the Anambra Police’s ongoing campaign to stamp out cultism and related crimes, ensuring peace and security for communities across the state. 


With this latest success, the Command sends a clear message: criminal elements have no place in Anambra.
