Breaking: Awka South Mayor Bags First Indigenous International Outstanding Leadership Award

The Mayor of Awka South Local Government Area, Prince Chinedu Okafor, has been conferred with the First Indigenous International Outstanding Leadership Award by Awka Youths Home and Abroad (Okolo N’eche Obodo Awka).


The award ceremony, held at the council headquarters in Awka, was attended by key local government officials, Youth Chairmen from the 33 villages of Awka, and global executives of the Okolo N’eche Obodo Awka association.


Speaking at the event, the Awka South Youth Chairman of the Anambra State Town Union Council (ASTUC) and Senior Special Assistant to the Mayor on Community Vigilante, Hon. Ikechukwu Ezenna Philip (Ogwalli), praised Prince Okafor as a visionary leader and the first Awka South Mayor to surpass expectations.


“This award is in recognition of your outstanding leadership qualities and remarkable achievements, especially in ensuring a peaceful and successful Imo Awka celebration and enhanced security across Awka communities,” he said.


He also pledged the continued support of the youth council for the Mayor’s transformative leadership.


Receiving the award, Prince Chinedu Okafor expressed deep appreciation for the recognition. He emphasized that the honour is not just a personal achievement but a testament to the collective progress of Awka South.


Prince Okafor also reaffirmed his commitment to effective service delivery, youth empowerment and sustaining peace and development in the local government In alignment with Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s “Solution Agenda”


In a vote of thanks, the ASTUC Vice Chairman, Hon. Chukwunenye Onuorah, lauded the Mayor for his hospitality and effective governance.


“The Mayor is a man of his word. He has matched promises with actions, and today, Awka South communities are enjoying a fresh breeze of good governance through his dynamic leadership,” he said.


Notable dignitaries at the event included: Awka-South LGA Deputy Mayor, Hon. Paul Ifeme, LG Secretary, Hon. Sir Peter Uyanwune, Awka-South APGA Chairman, Barr. Lawrence Chukwuma, Commander, Dobe Awka Ocha Enforcement Team, Prince Ikechukwu Henry Ndigwe and Hon. Dr. Sebastian Ibekwe (Ikolo Awka) amongst others.
