Commissioner of Police Visits PMF 29 Squadron, Condoles Family Over Inspector’s Death

Awka, Anambra State – On June 17, 2025, the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD, visited the Police Mobile Force (PMF) 29 Squadron in Amansea, Awka, to mourn the tragic loss of Inspector Okolie Amechi and express solidarity with the squadron and the deceased’s family. The visit also addressed the bullet injury sustained by one of the inspector’s sons, who is currently receiving medical treatment.


During his visit, CP Orutugu, who described the PMF as his "alma mater," underscored the importance of adhering to Police Operational Protocols in the line of duty. He urged the officers to remain focused, work as a team, and stay dedicated despite the loss. The CP also provided a welfare package to support the deceased’s family and offered prayers for the swift recovery of the injured son.


The Commander of PMF 29 Squadron, Assistant Commissioner of Police Nasiru Adamu Kaila, expressed gratitude for the CP’s visit and empathy during this period of grief. He assured the CP that the squadron would comply with his directives and remain committed to maintaining peace and security in their area of responsibility.


Accompanying CP Orutugu were the three Assistant Commissioners of Police from the Administration, Investigation, and Operations Departments, along with other senior officers.


The visit highlights CP Orutugu’s commitment to boosting the morale and welfare of the Anambra State Police Command’s personnel while reinforcing the importance of professionalism in policing.
