Two Dead, Two Abducted in Cult-Related Shooting in Oko, Anambra State

Oko, Anambra State – A violent cult-related shooting rocked the Total Junction and Tipper Junction in Oko, Orumba North Local Government Area, on the evening of June 19, 2025, leaving two people dead, two others allegedly abducted, and two individuals, including a woman, injured and receiving treatment in a hospital.
According to a statement by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer for the Anambra State Police Command, the incident occurred around 8:40 p.m. when armed criminals, operating on a motorcycle and in a black Lexus 350 SUV without a license plate, opened fire indiscriminately at Total Junction.
Eyewitnesses reported that four people were wounded, including a woman who is now under medical care. The assailants allegedly abducted two individuals at Tipper Junction before fleeing the scene.
Police operatives, led by the Area Commander Aguata and supported by a Joint Security Force comprising the Army, Navy, Civil Defence, and Vigilante operatives, have taken control of the scene. The Anambra State Police Command is actively pursuing leads provided by eyewitnesses to apprehend the perpetrators.
SP Ikenga urged the public to remain calm, assuring residents that the police are leveraging critical information to track down the armed hoodlums. Further updates on the investigation will be provided as developments unfold.
