Anambra Police Commissioner Praises Nnewi South Residents for Supporting Security Initiatives

On July 15, 2025, the Commissioner of Police for Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orotugu, commended the residents of Nnewi South Local Government Area (LGA) for their renewed commitment and support toward the Nigeria Police and other security agencies in enhancing the safety and security of the region.


During a routine operational patrol to communities within Nnewi South LGA, CP Orotugu, accompanied by the Area Commander Nnewi, DPO Otolo-Nnewi, DPO Amichi, and other senior officers, assessed community-led goodwill projects aimed at upgrading the Police facility in Amichi. The visit also included a meeting with the Local Government Chairman, Hon. Van George Chinedu Ezeogidi, and key stakeholders in the area.


CP Orotugu highlighted the importance of community collaboration as a cornerstone of effective policing and sustainable peace. He praised the ongoing efforts in Nnewi South, noting that such partnerships are critical to strengthening Anambra’s security framework. The Commissioner urged other LGAs in the state to emulate this model of community engagement to bolster safety and security.


In response, Hon. Ezeogidi and other dignitaries expressed gratitude to CP Orotugu for his leadership and pledged continued cooperation to enhance safety in Nnewi South. They reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with security agencies to ensure a secure environment for residents.


The Anambra State Police Command, through a statement by Police Public Relations Officer SP Tochukwu Ikenga, reiterated its dedication to protecting citizens while fostering transparency, responsiveness, and mutual trust with communities across the state.
