Labour Party Dismisses Claims of Mass Defection to ADC in Anambra

The Labour Party in Anambra State has debunked a viral social media statement, attributed to DCA Media, claiming that over 10,000 members have defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in a so-called "mass exodus." The party described the report as misleading and lacking credible evidence.

In a press release, the Labour Party questioned the validity of the alleged defection figures, particularly the claim involving seven Local Government Areas in Anambra South Senatorial Zone. "The assertion of 10,000 defections is unsubstantiated, with no verifiable data or credible sources provided to support this claim," the statement read. The party emphasized that transparency is crucial for such serious allegations and dismissed the report as propaganda aimed at causing confusion.

The statement also referenced Barr Amamgbo's Senate bid, noting that no concrete evidence links his political aspirations to the alleged defections. The Labour Party further criticized the comparison of the situation to the biblical story of Moses, calling it a sensationalized attempt to exaggerate the issue.

Urging its members to remain focused, the Labour Party called on supporters in Anambra to disregard the claims and rally behind Chief Dr. George Moghalu, the party's candidate for the governorship election scheduled for November 8, 2025.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to unity and mobilizing support for its candidates, dismissing the defection narrative as a distraction.
