Labour Party Slams APGA, Urges Obigwe to Prepare Congratulatory Letter for November 8 Election

The Campaign Organization of Chief George Moghalu and Mrs. Ifeoma Okaro, Labour Party candidates for the Anambra State governorship election, has responded sharply to remarks by Evangelist Chinedu Obigwe, Coordinator of the APGA Media Warriors, who dismissed the Labour Party’s pledge to secure over two million votes in the November 8, 2025, election as “laughable.”


In a press statement issued on July 16, 2025, signed by Mr. Onyebuchi Okoye, Special Assistant on Media to Dr. George Moghalu, the Labour Party described Obigwe’s comments as a sign of discomfort and a reflection of a mindset “trapped in yesterday’s politics.” The statement accused the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) of relying on outdated tactics and emotional slogans like “Nke bu nke anyi” to manipulate voters, asserting that Ndi Anambra are now demanding results, dignity, and trustworthy leadership.


The Labour Party criticized APGA for straying from the ideals of its late founder, Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, noting the removal of his image from party materials as a symbol of the party’s shift toward “exclusion and entitlement.” The statement emphasized that the 2025 election is about the future of Anambra, not personalities or past legacies, and highlighted Dr. Moghalu’s “clear, actionable vision” for a more inclusive, secure, and prosperous state.


The campaign organization underscored the growing grassroots support for Moghalu, citing endorsements from youth groups, market women, church leaders, and town unions. “What is happening across the state today is not boastful talk. It is genuine grassroots momentum,” the statement read, describing Moghalu’s campaign as a movement built on integrity and accessibility.


The Labour Party also took a swipe at APGA’s electoral performance, pointing out its failure to secure a single senatorial seat in Anambra during the 2023 general elections despite its incumbency and resources. “The handwriting is already on the wall,” the statement declared, urging APGA to focus on an issue-based campaign and respect the intelligence of Anambra’s electorate.


The statement concluded with a bold challenge to Obigwe, calling on him to prepare a congratulatory letter for the morning of November 9, 2025, when the Labour Party anticipates a victory driven by the will of Ndi Anambra.
