Anambra Deputy Governor Headlines Star-Studded Condolence Visit for Hon. Afamefuna Ezenwafor’s Late Father-in-Law

On a poignant Friday, September 26, 2025, the serene town of Ukwulu became the epicenter of unity and compassion as Hon. Afamefuna Ezenwafor, the dynamic leader of the Afamation Movement, led a deeply moving condolence visit to honor his late father-in-law, Elder Chukwuemeka Andrew Iloegbunam. The event was a powerful display of solidarity, drawing a constellation of Anambra’s political and social heavyweights.


Leading the charge was none other than Anambra’s Deputy Governor, His Excellency Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, whose presence added gravitas to the occasion. The roll call read like a who’s who of Anambra’s elite, with luminaries such as Dr. Chibueze Ofobuike, the charismatic Mayor of Aguata LGA; Hon. Tony Muobike, the fiery representative of Aguata II Constituency; and Hon. Ikem Uzoezie (Ikeoha Aguata), a revered former legislator. The gathering also featured Chief Basil Ejidike, the influential Anambra State APC Chairman; Dr. Dozie Ikedife (Ikenga Nnewi), a former senatorial aspirant with a commanding presence; High Chief Johnbosco Onunkwo (Onwa Umuchu), a governorship hopeful with a heart for the people; Chief Azubuike Ezechukwu (Uzommiri Ekwulobia), the esteemed President General of Ekwulobia Town Union; and Rt. Col. Joseph Onyejekwu, the bold NNPP 2025 Anambra Governorship candidate.


The list didn’t end there. Notable figures like Chief Jude Emecheta, Chief Chido Obidiegwu, Chief Barr. Akunwata Oli, Prof. Steve Unachukwu, and Prof. Solomon Ekwenze, the erudite Dean of the Faculty of Law at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, joined a host of other distinguished personalities, turning the event into a vibrant tapestry of Anambra’s finest.


In a stirring address, Deputy Governor Ibezim paid a glowing tribute to Elder Iloegbunam, painting a vivid picture of a life well-lived, marked by integrity and impact. Turning to his friend and the bereaved son-in-law, Hon. Ezenwafor, Ibezim shared a heartfelt moment, revealing how he cleared his packed schedule to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with his ally during this time of loss.


The emotional peak of the day came during the formal condolence ceremony, where Hon. Ezenwafor, flanked by family, friends, and a sea of supporters, approached the condolence table with grace and reverence. The atmosphere was thick with shared sorrow and respect, as the crowd united in honoring a beloved patriarch.


In a voice filled with gratitude, Hon.
