In a remarkable display of efficiency, the Anambra State Police Command successfully rescued a kidnapped victim just seven hours after his abduction on September 30, 2025. The operation, conducted by the Command’s Tactical Team, took place at the Oba/Ojoto axis, following the victim's abduction by armed criminals in Umuru Village, Nnobi.

According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer, the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of ₦10,000,000. However, swift action by the Joint Command Tactical Team, guided by intelligence, led to an aggressive operation in the area. Under pressure from the advancing operatives, the kidnappers abandoned the victim and fled into nearby bushes. The victim was rescued unharmed, debriefed, and safely reunited with his family.

The Anambra State Police Command is now intensifying efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects, with operatives actively pursuing leads to bring the criminals to justice.

Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, praised the tactical team for their prompt response and reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to combating crime and ensuring the safety of residents. “The Anambra State Police Command remains committed to protecting lives and maintaining public safety,” he stated.

The successful rescue operation underscores the Command’s proactive approach to tackling kidnapping and other criminal activities in the state. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
