Anambra CP Orutugu Rallies Stakeholders in Ihiala and Oraifite for Peaceful Governorship Election

The Commissioner of Police for Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, minps, PhD, on Monday intensified his statewide campaign for election security and community vigilance with strategic visits to Ihiala Area Command and Oraifite Division, ahead of the November 8, 2025, governorship election.


In interactive sessions with key stakeholders—including the President General of Ihiala Community, the Commander of Agunechemba Vigilante Group, the Youth Chairman, a representative of the Local Government Chairman, and police personnel in the areas—CP Orutugu highlighted the end of longstanding security challenges in the region.


At Ihiala Area Command, the CP expressed confidence that the area's "security structural deficit" is now resolved. He praised residents of Ihiala and Oraifite for their bravery, sense of civic duty, and ongoing collaboration with security forces. "The communities have shown remarkable resilience by rejecting criminal interference in politics and maintaining stability," he said.


In Oraifite, CP Orutugu acknowledged the vital role of inter-agency cooperation, stating that the police "cannot take the glory alone" for the improved safety. He clarified that local vigilante groups of any kind will not participate in election security operations.


Reaffirming the police force's dedication to protecting lives and property, CP Orutugu pledged a peaceful, secure, and credible election. He defined election patriotism as "rejecting intimidation, resisting fear-mongering, and voting freely in the democratic process."


Addressing officers under the commands, the CP urged strict adherence to discipline, professionalism, courtesy, and high standards. He emphasized people-centered, intelligence-led policing grounded in human rights protection.


He further assured that the Joint Security framework will be strengthened and extended across communities to block criminal elements and ensure lasting peace before, during, and after the polls.
