Anambra Joint Security Team Recovers Stolen Toyota Highlander, Arrests Female Accomplice in Ogidi

In a significant breakthrough, operatives from the Anambra State Police Command, attached to the 33 Police Station, working alongside Agunechemba Security’s Nkwelle-Ezunaka Unit, recovered a snatched Toyota Highlander and apprehended a female accomplice involved in an armed robbery and kidnapping case in Ogidi.


The incident occurred in the early hours of October 27, 2025, when five armed men in a Toyota Corolla ambushed the victim at Nkwelle GRA Gate. 


The assailants forcibly placed the victim in the boot of his vehicle and drove him to a bush in Umuoji Town. 


There, they robbed him of his phone and illegally transferred ₦24 million from his bank account before abandoning him and fleeing with his vehicle.


Acting on advanced intelligence, the Joint Security Team traced the suspects’ movements from Nawfia to Ogidi. 


At Ogidi, the armed robbers engaged security operatives in sporadic gunfire but ultimately escaped on foot. 


However, the team successfully recovered the white Toyota Highlander SUV with registration number RBC 649 CN and arrested 23-year-old Okonkwo Onyinye, a female accomplice found at the scene.


Okonkwo Onyinye is currently assisting police detectives with critical information that could lead to the arrest of the other gang members still at large.


The Anambra State Police Command has intensified security patrols across the state ahead of the upcoming Governorship Election scheduled for November 8, 2025, promising to maintain law and order.
