In the lead-up to the November 8, 2025 Anambra State Governorship Election, Commissioner of Police CP Ikioye Orutugu has mandated intensified security operations across the state. Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders are to conduct intelligence-driven raids at known flashpoints to proactively prevent political thuggery, cult violence, and illegal firearms possession.

CP Orutugu highlighted credible intelligence pointing to some groups mobilizing youths for violent activities tied to political interests.

He warned that any disruptions to public peace, voter intimidation, or attempts to undermine the electoral process will be met with firm consequences.

Reaffirming the Nigeria Police Force’s non-partisan stance, the Commissioner stressed that officers will protect lives, secure the integrity of the election, and enforce laws without bias.

The statement was issued by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer of Anambra State Command, on October 28, 2025.
