Enugwu-Agidi Stakeholders Forum Responds to Open Letter on Community Leadership Crisis

The Enugwu-Agidi Stakeholders Forum (ESF) in Anambra State has issued a detailed rejoinder to an open letter written by Prince (Dr.) Chinedu C. Ikeanyi, addressed to Hon. Tony Collins Nwabunwanne, Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Community Affairs.

The open letter, dated October 9, 2025, titled “Rescue Enugwu-Agidi from the Bondage of President-General, Ebuka Onuorah,” prompted ESF’s Executive Committee to clarify and defend its role and leadership.

In the response, the ESF Executive Committee commended Prince Ikeanyi for his detailed recount of Enugwu-Agidi’s history and development efforts but strongly criticized his attack on the ESF Chairman, Amb. Prince (Dr.) Emeka Egwuekwe.

They described the allegations as “unbalanced, uninformed, myopic, and unwarranted,” emphasizing the chairman’s longstanding dedication to peace and development in Enugwu-Agidi, including his role as Chairman of the Ezumezu Umunri worldwide.

The rejoinder highlighted Amb. Egwuekwe's extensive peace mediation efforts between key community factions, including Ebuka Onuorah, the President-General (PG) of Enugwu-Agidi Brotherly Union (EBU), and Igwe Michael Okekeuche (Okpalariam III). According to ESF, their chairman personally financed nationwide and international fact-finding missions to resolve disputes, producing reports and recommendations that earned commendations and shaped peace initiatives.

Despite obstacles; such as government disbanding peace committees and protracted legal battles between the factions, ESF maintained active involvement and coordinated efforts with notable figures like Prince Arthur Eze, Hon. Tony Collins Nwabunwanne, Sir Emeka Offor, and the current Njikoka LGA Mayor, Hon. Barr. Chinedu Ononiba.

The statement addressed and corrected specific claims made by Prince Ikeanyi, clarifying that the chairman’s interventions on behalf of both the PG and the Igwe at various police and government offices were driven by a sincere desire for peace, not personal interest or compromise. ESF also rejected allegations that Amb. Egwuekwe sought to displace the Igwe to assume the throne himself, calling such claims "malicious lies."

In conclusion, the ESF Executive Committee expressed surprise and disappointment at being labeled as compromised and incapable of brokering peace, especially when the Central Executive Committee (CEC) recently entrusted them with this responsibility following intervention by Sir Emeka Offor and a formal Memorandum of Understanding.

The ESF called on Prince Ikeanyi to retract his statements and apologize to restore the chairman’s reputation, emphasizing their commitment to balanced dialogue and lasting peace in Enugwu-Agidi.

Ambassador Chukwuebuka David Onuorah, has urged all sons and daughters of the town living in cities and overseas to return home this Christmas.
