Anambra Govt Officially Recognises Ebuka Onuorah as Substantive PG, Crushes Factional Coup and Fake News Campaign

 The Anambra State Government has delivered a crushing and final blow to months of orchestrated turmoil in Enugwu-Agidi, Njikoka Local Government Area, by unequivocally affirming Hon. Chukwuebuka David Ebuka Onuorah as the legitimate and continuing President-General of the Enugwu-Agidi Brotherly Union (EBU).

In a communiqué issued on 26 November 2025 (Ref: MLGCCA/CM/010/T/276) and signed personally by the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mr TonyCollins Nwabunwanne, the Ministry declared in black and white: “That Hon. Chukwuebuka David Onuorah is the substantive President-General of the Enugwu-Agidi Brotherly Union.” The same document fixed the next EBU executive election for 29 December 2025 and placed it squarely under the supervision of the current Onuorah-led administration, in strict accordance with the union’s constitution.

This authoritative pronouncement has completely demolished a malicious online article written by one OkeyChris that falsely claimed an “interim President-General” had been installed, that Onuorah had been “arrested” by the state government, and that a rogue 14-man committee elected on 30 November had already taken over the transition process. Community leaders have described the story as pure fiction and a paid hatchet job aimed at inciting confusion.

The Commissioner’s directive, issued after a reconciliation meeting at Government House, Awka, on 26 November, ordered the sitting PG to immediately convene the National Executive Committee, select three Returning Officers under the outgoing executive, and forward their names to the Ministry not later than 3 December 2025. Voting on 29 December will be by secret ballot, with accreditation running from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. through village branches — exactly as the EBU constitution prescribes.

Copies of the communiqué were sent to the Special Adviser on Security, the Commissioner of Police, the Igwe of Enugwu-Agidi, HRH Igwe Michael Okekeuche, the Mayor of Njikoka LGA, and the DPO Abagana Police Station, signalling that the Soludo administration will not tolerate any breach of peace or parallel government in the community.

Speaking on the development, the Executive Chairman of Njikoka LGA, Hon. Prince Chidolue John Clarence Nwankwo, confirmed that neither his office nor the Ministry has recognised any “interim leadership” or declared the PG position vacant. “The Honourable Commissioner has settled the matter. Hon. Ebuka Onuorah remains the substantive PG until a new executive emerges on 29 or 30 December,” he told reporters.

Residents and supporters of the PG have expressed relief that the state government has finally silenced the campaign of calumny that included a dubious “suspension letter” signed by 87 persons in November, repeated allegations of land-grabbing, and the now-discredited OkeyChris publication. They insist that jealousy over Onuorah’s visible achievements — graded internal roads, enhanced security, scholarships, and welfare support for widows and the elderly — is the real motive behind the attacks.

With the official position now crystal clear, Enugwu-Agidi is urging all citizens, both at home and in the diaspora, to ignore fake news, rally behind the recognised leadership, and prepare for a peaceful, transparent election on 29 December 2025. Any individual or group still parading as “interim administration” or planning parallel elections has been warned that they do so at their own peril, as the full weight of the law will be applied. Peace, unity, and constitutional order have prevailed.
