Enugwu-Agidi PG Election: Home-Based Indigenes Rally Behind Incumbent Ebuka Onuorah

With less than four weeks to the 28 December 2025 general election of the Enugwu-Agidi Brotherly Union (EBU), a strong consensus has emerged among residents living in the community: they want the incumbent President-General, Hon. Ebuka Onuorah, to be re-elected for a second term.


A cross-section of residents interviewed in the four villages that make up Enugwu-Agidi expressed satisfaction with the visible developments recorded under the current administration and urged their relatives in the diaspora to look beyond earlier social media reports that painted a negative picture.


“Anyone who uses the new road from the Junction to Ugwu-Ogwu, crosses Mkpasalaku Bridge, or visits the renovated community secretariat will know that real work has been done,” said Mrs. Ngozi Eze, a trader at Eke Enugwu-Agidi and resident of Irunnebo Village. “We see these things every day; that is why we are supporting Ebuka to continue.”


Chief Emeka Nwosu, a respected community leader, described the achievements as the most significant in recent memory. “In three years we have seen roads, bridges, a modern secretariat, and regular support for widows and the elderly. These are not promises; they are completed projects,” he stated.


Other residents highlighted the administration’s ability to attract government attention and funding, which they said was instrumental in delivering the infrastructure.


While acknowledging that no leadership is without challenges, many interviewees noted that earlier controversies; including concerns over levies, land matters and internal disagreements, have either been resolved or were exaggerated on social media platforms popular among the diaspora.


Mrs. Adaora Umeh, a businesswoman in Urueze Village, captured the prevailing mood: “Every leader will step on some toes. What matters is the balance sheet at the end of the day. For us here at home, the good far outweighs the complaints. We are ready to vote for Ebuka again.”


Community sources say the clear support from those living in Enugwu-Agidi may prove decisive in the forthcoming election, especially as many diaspora members are expected to return home for the Christmas and New Year celebrations in the coming weeks.


As one youth leader put it: “When our brothers and sisters abroad drive on these new roads and see the changes with their own eyes, many of the old stories will fade. The work on ground will speak for itself.”


The 28 December 2025 election will determine whether the tangible progress witnessed by residents will secure Hon. Ebuka Onuorah a fresh mandate to continue his development agenda for Enugwu-Agidi.

Ambassador Chukwuebuka David Onuorah, has urged all sons and daughters of the town living in cities and overseas to return home this Christmas. Speaking yesterday, Tuesday November 18, at his Country Home in Enugwu-Agidi, Onuorah said the community is now very safe because of the strong security system put in place.
