Police Raid in Awka Leads to Arrest of Three Suspects, Recovery of Firearm

By O'star Eze  In a significant step towards bolstering safety in the state capital, operatives of the Anambra State Police Command’s B Division conducted a successful raid on an uncompleted building in Iyiagu Estate, Awka, on April 29, 2025. Acting on credible intelligence, the early morning operation resulted in the arrest of three suspects and the recovery of a locally made revolver pistol along with substances suspected to be hard drugs. The arrested individuals, identified as Paulinus Nkuda, Nwankwo Emmanuel, and Nwadede Godspower, all male, claimed the seized firearm belonged to a notorious arms dealer known as Chukwuebuka, alias “Nwa Onitsha,” who remains at large. By O'star Eze NNEWI, ANAMBRA – In a significant breakthrough in the fight against crime, the Anambra State Police Command arrested two suspects terrorizing Nnewi on May 1, 2025, recovering a foreign-made pistol, three live rounds of ammunition, and a suspected stolen motorcycle. The arrests were made by operatives attached to the Otolo-Nnewi Division at approximately 1:45 p.m., following credible intelligence that led to the busting of a criminal hideout in the area. The suspects, identified as 21-year-old Ani Obinna and 43-year-old Okwudili Ezike, were apprehended after a hot pursuit by police operatives. During interrogation, the duo confessed to being members of a secret cult and a kidnapping gang operating in the region. The operation, conducted on April 25, 2025, targeted a criminal camp at Osumoghu Isieke Village, Ihiala Local Government Area, following credible intelligence. The suspect, identified as Ewulu Chikwo, a 35-year-old male, was apprehended during the raid.
