Ten Killed in Unprovoked Shooting in Ogboji, Anambra State; Police Vow to Apprehend Culprits

A tragic shooting incident in Ogboji, Orumba South Local Government Area, has left ten people dead, prompting strong condemnation from the Anambra State Police Command. The unprovoked attack, which occurred on the evening of June 30, 2025, was carried out by armed criminals arriving in two Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs).


According to a statement by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, the assailants opened fire indiscriminately on a gathering, causing fatal injuries. The victims were immediately rushed to a hospital, where ten were confirmed dead. The bodies have been deposited in a morgue.


The Anambra State Police Command has vowed to hunt down the perpetrators and bring them to justice. A police-led security team has taken control of the scene and is actively gathering information to facilitate the arrest of those responsible.


SP Ikenga assured the public that further developments would be communicated as the investigation progresses. The incident has sparked outrage, with authorities urging calm as they work to ensure justice for the victims.
