Anambra Police and Community Unite to Arrest Suspect in Aguata

By O'star Eze  In a significant display of community collaboration and police effort, the Anambra State Police Command has apprehended a 20-year-old suspect, Chigbo Umeugokwe, in connection with recent armed robbery and attempted sexual assault in Aguata.  The arrest was made on November 11, 2025, in Umuezeiyi Village, Achina, Aguata Local Government Area, with the support of local community security groups. The suspect allegedly broke into a shop in the same village on October 29, 2025, armed with a locally made single-barrel gun and a small axe. Reports indicate he wore a red polo shirt fashioned into a face mask during the robbery.  He reportedly abducted a 13-year-old girl, took her into a nearby bush, and forcibly had unlawful sexual relations with her.  Additionally, he is accused of fleeing with ₦30,000 from the shop.During police interrogation, Umeugokwe voluntarily confessed to the crimes.  Items recovered from him include the locally made gun, the smal...

Recall that the leadership of the NYCN in Anambra State had, earlier in September 2025, publicly rejected the proposed Tenure Elongation Congress slated for Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
