65th Independence Day Celebration: Mayor Nkwoka Clears WAEC Fees for All Public School Students In Idemili North

 



...Prioritizes Grassroots Education, Environmental Cleanliness, Says Council Has keyed into Governor Soludo’s “One Community, One Project” Initiative

The the idea-bearing Mayor of the most populous and densely populated Council Area in Southeastern Nigeria, Chief Hon. (Sir) Stanley Nkwoka (Ochendo Idemili) on Wednesday, October 1 2025, at the Council's Headquarters, Ogidi promised to clear the 2025 WAEC fees for all Public School students in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, announcing that the Council is prioritizing grassroots education, environmental cleanliness and has also Keyed into Governor Soludo’s “One Community, One Project” Initiative.


 The inimitable Mayor who made the declaration during this year's Independence Day Anniversary Celebration in the presence of the Deputy Mayor, Lady Phina Onwuachu (Nmaluluno), the Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Samuel Anikpe (Wester, Oyinatumba), the Deputy Leader, Hon. Mathieu Obi, Secretary to Idemili North Government, Hon. Engr. Chidubem Paul Okoye (IkekanaChukwu), the Head of Local Government Administration (HLGA), Engr. Achukwu, Councillors, political appointees, the traditional rulers, President’s General of various town unions, Heads of Departments (HODs), Public/Civil Servants, Management, staff and students of various schools, Service Chiefs, parents, guardians, Corps members, among others. 


 Addressing the mammoth crowd who thronged the Council's headquarters to have a glimpse of the working Mayor, Chief Hon. (Sir) Stanley Nkwoka (Ochendo Idemili) said the gesture was borne out of his conviction to prioritize the education sector and to ensure that no student is left out of this year's WAEC exercise, adding that he is following the footsteps of the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo (Oluatuegwu) whom he described as leader's leader and a man imbued with native intelligence.


  'It is with great honour and a deep sense of responsibility that I welcome you all to this historic occasion marking the 65th Independence Anniversary of our beloved country, Nigeria.


 'As a local government, we align ourselves fully with this mission of transformation, and we have keyed into Governor Soludo’s “One Community, One Project” initiative. We are also working to ensure that every village and ward in Idemili North benefits from inclusive development — no one will be left behind.


  'We have prioritized grassroots education through support for our teachers and students,

environmental cleanliness and sustainability, youth empowerment and skills acquisition ( 1YOUTH 2Skill), and the promotion of peace and security in our communities.


 'Payment for WAEC fees for public school children. Renovation of public schools in the LGA. Provision of table and desk for schools in Idemili North LGA.


'To our youth and students here today. You are the leaders of tomorrow. The future belongs to you. Use your education, your talents, and your voices for good. Stay away from crime, cultism, and drug abuse. Embrace hard work, integrity, and community service.


 'To our teachers and civil servants, you remain the pillars of our public service. We appreciate your tireless efforts and will continue to support you to do more.


 'To our traditional rulers and community leaders — your wisdom and partnership are invaluable in promoting unity and development across our towns and villages. Let me also use this opportunity to remind us all that Independence is not just a celebration. it is a call to action. We must continue to build a Nigeria and an Anambra State that works for everyone. We must shun tribalism, violence, and selfishness and embrace hard work, dialogue, and patriotism.


 'As we hoist our flags today and sing our national anthem, let it be with a renewed commitment to nation-building — from the family level to the national level. May the labour of our heroes past never be in vain.


  'May Idemili North prosper. May Anambra State continue to rise.
