*IF YOU SEE SOMETHING,SAY SOMETHING AND EARN 5M NAIRA (DIAL 511)*

Image
By Hon Kamen Chuks Ogbonna  Yesterday I paid a visit to the office of my good friend and guru in the media industry, Dr. Law Mefor.  The visit served dual purposes; to personally congratulate him on his appointment as the Commissioner for Information, Anambra State, and to get more clarity on the newly launched security initiative of the state government, AGUNECHEMBA and in the process, also share my own ideas to the government on ways to ensure that this laudable security measure succeeds. Something very significant played out during the last yuletide celebrations. Anambra people living outside the state staged a mass return that reverberated across the state with multiple ripple effects on the state's economy with most hotels in the state fully booked while the Christmas and New Year celebrations lasted.  That was the biggest pointer to the fact that Ndi Anambra's collective resolve to take back their state from these non state actors has reached a crescendo or what sci...

A Great Entrepreneur Turns To Serve His People Politically. (Chief Dr. Ebuka Onunkwo)

Image
Societies around the globe respond to the contemporary technological and economic change by defining entrepreneurship and innovation as core principles for future competitive advantage. Does this rise of the "entrepreneurial society" also imply that entrepreneurial personalities are becoming increasingly widespread and powerful in political leadership?   It is interesting to ask whether such Schumpeterian personalities indeed play an increasingly important role in political leadership, given that daily routines of policy leaders, at least at first glance, usually require rather non-entrepreneurial strategies such as careful, risk-averse diplomacy. To address this question, we first surveyed the existing literature on personality and political leadership.  We further present a novel personality analysis of an influential business leader that recently made a transition to political leadership: Chief Dr. Ebuka Onunkwo, Chairman Seahorse Oil. Employing people in his oi...

Soludo's Ambitious Projects Set Him Apart from Previous Governors

Image
By Izuchukwu Adichie One undeniable fact about Soludo’s government is his passion for ambitious projects. Unlike previous governors, Soludo does not initiate projects only to abandon them; he emphasizes the importance of follow-through. An important part of his governance style is conducting a NEEDS assessment before starting any project, ensuring that adequate funding is secured beforehand. When he assumed office in 2022, Anambra State was facing serious challenges. The roads were largely impassable, and there were no teachers in classrooms, nor were doctors and nurses in hospitals. There was no functioning government house, and nine local governments were under criminal control. The Onitsha metropolitan area was overtaken by touts, driving away customers and stifling commerce. Government offices were costing over 100 million naira per month to maintain, and major urban areas, including the state capital, were in disrepair. Governance had hit rock bottom, leaving the state in a precar...

Oando to deploy 5,000 electric buses for public transport in Lagos – Wale Tinubu

Image
The Group Chief Executive Officer of OandO Plc, Wale Tinubu has disclosed that the oil firm is partnering with the Lagos State Government to deploy 5,000 electric buses for public transportation in the state. Tinubu, said this in an interview with CNBC Africa, on the sidelines of the just concluded World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. He said the decision to invest in electric vehicles, particularly for public transportation, is informed by the company’s commitment to adopting cleaner energy solutions as part of its ‘just’ energy transition drive. He makes a case for a ‘just transition’ over decarbonisation in Africa as the continent “is actually a victim of global warming,” bearing the brunt of climate change while contributing only about 3% of global emissions. He stressed that Africa cannot decarbonise or abandon its large deposits of fossil fuels for clean energy sources while the majority of its citizens wallow in energy poverty. “The arguments for decarbonisation are as im...

ANAMBRA 2025: ALL OPPOSITION PARTIES ARE IN THE INTENSIVE CARE UNIT

Image
As we approach the conduct of political parties primary elections for the 2025 Anambra governorship elections, only the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) is going into this process as a stable entity. Every other political party is in the intensive care unit paying for oxygen to even survive.  What they planned for APGA is happening to them. The negative actions or schemes that a group of people intended to inflict on APGA are now being experienced by them instead, essentially suggesting a form of karma or a situation where the perpetrators are now facing the consequences of their own actions.  The APC has essentially been deserted by anyone in Anambra State with a modicum of integrity and has become a union of political perverts where the centre can not hold after March 29, 2025. The Labour Party is basically a group of wannabes propelled by the belief that luck would come to their rescue.  For the PDP, I am constrained from kicking a man that is already down...

Soludo has exceeded his campaign promises

Image
By Izuchukwu Adichie At the beginning of Soludo’s government, many people in Anambra were growing impatient even though he started working from the first day he was sworn-in as a Governor. Some expected him to perform miracles and magic, believing that good roads, pipe-borne water, and all the good things he promised would suddenly appear everywhere within the first 14-days in office. They did not fully understand the huge infrastructure deficit he inherited and the challenges he needed to address. 34 months later, our people have noticed the big changes that are happening all over the state. Projects are completed and are still rolling out in all 326 wards, and it’s clear that the transformation under Soludo is something you can touch, walk on, drink, feel, and sight. Ndi Anambra is happy they voted for him and have continued to back him through it all.
